Gem Flight - September 2004
Mission Control - Steve Adams and John Jamieson setup and test the operation of our newly designed Launch Control Console. The new device has a remote "button" which allows a VIP to actually launch the rocket.
"Blue" with Envy - James Russell, Steve Adams, and John Jamieson pose with the Sapphire rocket prior to launch. The launch rail is embedded in 80 pounds of concrete.
Take Two - Sapphire, the second launch of the day, flew to an altitude of 16,000 ft. Strong winds and communication delays caused the third flight, Emerald, to be cancelled as our launch window closed.
Searching - John Jamieson and Tracey Craft are the first to reach the landed Amethyst rocket. Newer models include GPS tracking equipment to aid recovery.
Amethyst awaiting the recovery team. Some rockets land in inaccessible places, others land only a few feet from a road, making it easy to recover the vehicles and return them to their storage cradles.
Fireworks are Over - so the rain begins. The nosecones of the three rockets to be launched that day extend out the back of the transport truck.
