LC 3 Assembly
What If? - Steve Adams and Sam Schaffer discuss a design modification to the nosecone. The cable would become part of a tensioning system to keep the nosecone shape while it flies and after it ejects.
It's All Good - Steve Adams and Sam Schaffer admire their handiwork on the new nosecone. The Clicos come from the airplane manufacturing world and help to keep the skin tight and smooth.
Check and Double-Check - Lead Fabricator Sam Schaffer checks a centering ring with Quality Control's T'Chris Gardner. Each piece is measured for tolerance before it is installed in a craft.
Quality is Job 1 - Sam Schaffer inspects the fit of the skin and the line of the rivets. Each rivet is carefully drilled and placed to ensure the perfect fit of the parts. In the background, LC-2 is stored.
Every Clamp in Place - Now that the frame is finished, the wiring installed and the parachute storage bay finished, the skin can be wrapped around the craft. The body skin is the last to be installed.
Ready! - The completed craft sits outside the hangar, ready to be loaded on the transport trailer. One fin is painted red so we can check for any spin while the craft is flying.
